Senate President arrives Tribunal, Police stops life coverage


The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has arrived the Code of Conduct Tribunal to face a 13-count criminal charge bordering on false declaration of assets preferred against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau.
Security was unusually tight at the Tribunal, this morning, as the Senate President and former governor of Kwara state, is expected to appear before the Danladi Umar-led Tribunal.
The policemen, however, have stopped life coverage of the Senate President ongoing trial at the code of Conduct tribunal.
The Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court, both sitting in Abuja, yesterday, restated the arrest warrant of Saraki, ordering security agencies to produce him in the court today.
Following the unsuccessful attempt by his lawyer, Joseph Daudu (SAN) to make the tribunal withdraw the arrest warrant and abolish the case, Saraki, yesterday finally succumbed to appear before the tribunal to present himself as a law abiding citizen of Nigeria.
The arrest warrant issued on Friday by the court to present the accused in the tribunal yesterday was prevailed by prosecution lawyer Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) on his client not to execute the bench warrant on account of the undertaking by Saraki’s lawyer, who failed the fulfill the undertaking with the excuse that he was not sure the tribunal actually expected him to produce his client.
