Inside information revealed that the chaplain was relieved of his position over a spurious petition allegedly written against the former chaplain and his supervising ministry
According to an insider, he was said to have claimed that as a government chaplain, he ought to be the personal spiritual leader of the first family.
Speaking on the claim that he was sacked without prior notice, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde has cleared the air saying: “The former chaplain had been queried a number of times in the past for conducts unbecoming of his office.”
Ayorinde said “the culmination of various indiscretions led to the governing council of the church issuing yet another query that led to his being relieved of his post.
“This has got nothing to do with the first lady. The chaplain is looking for an excuse to cover his insouciance. It’s nothing but cheap blackmail.”
It would be recalled that a national newspaper The Punch reported that the chaplain was sacked on the order of the governor’s wife over an alleged insubordination.
The chaplain who was a former staff of The Punch newspaper was also quoted in the paper not to be drawn into the allegations flying around his sack.
