Kayode Odumosu, popularly known as Pa Kasumu in the make believe world is now back on his feet, after a life threatening ailment that seriously affected his heart and lungs. The 60 year old actor who was bed reddened for several months before financial assistance came through Babatunde Fashola SAN, Governor of Lagos State, Senetor Ibikunle Amosun, Governor of Ogun State and other well meaning Nigerians. The role interpreter who turned 60 and celebrated his 45 years on stage last year fell ill after suffering partial stroke in 2009. However the good news is that Pa Kasumu has relocated from his face-to-face apartment in densely populated Mushin area in Lagos State to his just acquired bungalow in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
According to Mrs. Idowu Olajide, a member of the family who also doubled as the coordinator of the appeal fund for Pa Kasumu said the team recorded the total sum of #6.1 million. She further said, “it must also be noted that his case requires lifelong management and care principally to prevent secondary repeat stroke. Worthy of note is the fact that the diagnosis and prognosis at the First Cardiology Consultants, Ikoyi Lagos was in accord with the course he has been on with at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH”.
Tunde Odumosu, his son also revealed that his father is now well and physically fit. He said, “Although my father may still be flown abroad for futher treatment on his knee cap, he can now see better and he is physically fit. His physiotherapist has certified that he can now be left to go out on his own without any assistance or monitoring”. He went on to say that the family decided to acquire a befitting bungalow for him in Aboukuta for economic reason. “The need to reabilitate and relocate him from his face-to-face rented apartment in Mushin to a sweetable and more befitting accommodation was also taken into consideration to either acquire a flat or rent a flat for which he has to be paying rent for years to come and we settled for Abeoukuta since it is relatively cheaper and because of its proximity to Lagos is an added advantage for us”.
