Nigeria’s Former Senate President, Chief KEN NNAMANI’s Multi-Million Dollar Properties In US

Nigeria’s erstwhile Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamami is certainly not one of those run-of-the mill immigrants residing in the U.S. The Enugu born politician is among those that could be regarded as living the American dream to the fullest and this is evident in the series of investments, which include, among other things, multi-million dollar properties scattered all over the place in the God’s own country.
Among the choice properties purportedly owned by Chief Nnamani in the U.S are 3 apartment complexes namely: Wilshire Apartment (which has 38 units), Wilrose Apartment (with 17 units) and Embassy apartment (having 34 Units). These 89 unit apartment complexes located in Baltimore area of Maryland, the cost of which ran into several millions of dollars, were said to have been fully paid off (in cash) by the former No 3 citizen in Nigeria. “I pay cash for anything I buy in this country, I don’t do anything on credit,” he was quoted to have boasted to a friend recently.
The chief is also said to own a 7 bedroom mansion, where he and his family live in Briggs Chaney area of Silver Spring in Maryland State. Very close to this mansion are 2 ‘posh town houses, which are still under construction. Besides, he also owns an’ edifice, which houses a high brow banquet hall! state-of-the-art warehouse (run by his wife, Jenny) and valued at around 4million dollars, in Beltsville area of Maryland. When the building was shut ‘down recently by the city’s law enforcement agents for allegedly violating operational regulations, the Igbo Chief and his wife were said not to have been bothered. It was also’ gathered’ that Chief Nnamani owns more landed property in Rhode Island State, New York and few other states in the country; though, their exact locations could not be ascertained as at press time.
When contacted (over the ‘phone) by this reporter, the former Senate President said: “It is true I have interest in a company Maradec, USA, which owns the properties you are referring to. I am just a Principal Consultant in the company. And I have been doing this before I entered politics. I was not unemployed before I entered politics. It is my company and not I personally, that owns the properties, but we no longer own embassy apartments and for your information we are even in the process of acquiring more properties.”
Meanwhile, investigations by this reporter revealed that Maradec USA was established in Maryland State as a private company (categorized under the Food Items Specialty, not real estate) in 2005, the same year Chief Nnamani became the president of the senate in Nigeria, even though, he was elected to the Senate in 2003. Our findings further revealed that Maradec, USA never existed before this time (2003) and that some of the said properties were acquired by the former senate president’s company while he was in office. The rest, we gathered, were bought shortly after he left in 2007.
