Four persons have been dead and scores injured in an attack by suspected Fulani Herdsmen at Barakuta in Bosso local government area Niger State.
This came barely four days after conflict between farmers and the herdsmen in Paikoro local government of the State.
Speaking to newsmen after the attack on Sunday, the public relations officer (PPRO), the state police command, DSP Bala Elkana, stated that many others were injured in what appeared like a repraisal attack by the Fulani herdsmen that also led to the burning down of houses, four cars and 17 motorcycles.
While saying that the situation has been brought under control, he stated that joint security forces have been deployed to the area to quell the attack of the suspected Fulani invaders numbering about 200.
LEADERSHP findings revealed that the fracas began last week when the Fulanis were celebrating Sallah and some of them ran after a girl into a Gwari man’s house and allegedly attempted to rape her.
It was learnt that when the Fulani men were denied their rape attempt by the villagers, they had gotten annoyed and stabbed one of the villagers who later died.
The villagers were said to have revenged the killing by allegedly killing some Fulanis, thereby leading to the reprisal attack on the village over the weekend.
