Court Freezes Tompolo Assets

A Federal High Court in Lagos has on Friday ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to seize some assets belonging to a former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo.
The presiding judge, Justice Buba Inbrahim ordered the anti-graft agency to take possession of the concerned assets pending when Tompolo will make himself available to answer charges of N45.9bn fraud preferred against him and nine others.
The judge said if Tompolo failed to appear within three months of the order, the Federal Government may proceed to auction the assets and other properties.
Tompolo was recently declared wanted by EFCC for his refusal to appear before the court of law.
