CBN’s Officials Bombard Fidelity Bank

Officials of Centre Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Tuesday stormed the premises of Fidelity bank’s headquarters in Lagos over the reported $115m used to bribe officials during last year’s elections.
Nnamdi Okonkwo who is the bank’s managing director is in EFCC custody and is likely to be charged to court. He was reported to have, under the instructions of former Petroleum Resources minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, allegedly disbursed funds to INEC officials.
Fidelity bank on its part has stated that the transactions were reported to the appropriate agencies as required by law and that they have done nothing wrong.
According to the cable, the bank (Fidelity) have already made a presentation to the CBN on the transactions.
The cable reports that the visit by the compliance department of the CBN is to compare transaction documents with that of the representatives of Fidelity bank
