Army Admits To Killing 3sc Player, Claims Deceased Was Killed In Cultists’ Den

New development has trailed the death of the of 3SC defender, Izu Joseph when the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt on Tuesday confirmed that it was a soldier that shot dead the player among cultists.
Brig.-Gen. Hamisu Hassan told newsmen that the late footballer was allegedly found around a cult shrine raided by troops.
He said that troops were on confidence building patrol when they stormed cultists’ hideout in Okaki community when the incident occurred.
“Information available to the patrolling troops indicated the presence of suspected cultists in Okaki village.
“The troops moved in and raided the suspected criminal hideout of which one person lost his life at the hideout while several others fled.
“Later, it was confirmed that the one person who lost his life was a Nigerian footballer identified as Mr Izu Joseph.
“Nevertheless, investigation is ongoing to further determine why and what he (Izu) was doing at the cultist’s shrine at that time,” the Brig.-Gen. said.
Hassan said that the Brigade had intensified its operations against cultists, kidnappers, militants and other criminal elements in other to keep the state safe.
He also added that the Brigade would continue to be guided by rules of engagement while having respect for human rights.
The commander urged the public to go about their legitimate activities without fear of being molested by criminals.
