Armed Men Attack CBN Van, Kill Two

A mobile police officer and one security officer attached to a bullion van belonging to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have been shot dead by some unidentified armed robbers along Hawan Kibo of the Jos – Abuja road.
According to information gathered, the convoy of CBN bullion van and its escorts of armed mobile policemen got caught in a cross-fire between the outlaws and a patrol team of Plateau State, “Operation Rainbow”.
The information has it that the said robbers had emerged from their hiding place in a bush and attacked a patrol van causing a shoot-out with the patrol team and its entourage killing one of their officers.
Unfortunately, the CBN bullion van convoy came into the road during the fracas and armed robbers turned and fired on the van, killing one of the officers attached to it.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tyopev Terna, confirmed the incident adding that although he hasn’t been fully briefed by the Riyom divisional police, he can confirm the deaths of some members of the police but isn’t certain about the number.
The CBN bullion vans and its escorts are presently situated with the Federal Road Safety office in Riyom.
