Lagos CP clamps down on deadly Ikorodu shrine

In his avowed resolve to work the  talk, the new Commissioner of  Police, Lagos State, Imohim Edgal demonstrated, Wednesday, that he was in the state to fulfil all his promises about fighting crime and criminality. He swung into action by leading a team of policemen to clamp down on some shrines that dot Ikorodu and environs and ended up, in one fell swoop, demolishing no fewer than six dreaded shrines in the area.

Recall that few months back, as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of operations in the state, he led operations to check the increasing menace of ritual killers notoriously called Badoo boys. The exploits of this gang of criminals were so destructive that many residents of the area started re-locating to other areas in Lagos and Ogun states.
Initially, the police in Lagos under CP Fatai Owoseni was hamstrung in carrying out a decisive operation towards raiding the hideout of their kingpins in remote areas of Ikorodu. Luckily, as the man in-charge of operations, Imohim Edgal summoned up courage and made an uncanny resolve which resulted in a major operation that took heavily armed policemen to discover the shrines where Badoo killers were holding sway.

That operation unearthed startling revelations about the bloody attacks by the deadly gang and helped tremendously in dousing tension which was at its peak, in the whole of Lagos state and beyond. In fact, the suspected leaders of the gang and their sponsors that were arrested during the raid made frantic and desperate efforts to fight back without success. Fortunately, while they were intensifying efforts to dampen the efforts of the police, mother luck struck and elevated the man that swore to put an end to their atrocities.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos, Mr. Imohimi Edgal
Imohim Edgal, took up the gauntlet and commenced an operation that shocked both the operators of the shrines and their foot soldiers. Crime Guard gathered that he was able to discreetly carry out a thorough intelligence report about the locations of the shrines and how their operators coordinate their nefarious activities. He also set up a team from all the units of the command involved in operation and ensured that they were properly briefed on the operation before the d-day.
Then he  led the team comprising of both the military, operatives of Rapid response Squad, RRS, members of IGP tactical team, operatives of the Department of State Security Services, DSS, Lagos state Task Force and vigilante groups to Ikorodu where six shrines used for various ritual purposes at   Agbowa and Orugbo areas, were destroyed. Two kidnap victims, a man and a woman, whose identities were yet- to- be known, were rescued from one of the shrines, while a male suspect, Adedeji James, was also arrested..
It was learned that the victims, were to been used for ritual purposes before the arrival of the security operatives, while the suspect confessed that the shrine was been used for money ritual and other ritual purposes. While addressing newsman, Imohimi, disclosed that members of the public provided the information which led to the discovery of the shrines explaining that the   discoveries have shown that the police and   public partnership in providing security for the people is functional.
According to him; “ we discovered that these shrines were been used for ritual purposes and it is possible that they may have been used by the Badoo cult group. When I received information about  the shrines after I launched Community Policing and Public Partnership in Ikorodu, we investigated and discovered that the shrines were been used for ritual purposes. In fact, when we visited one of the shrines, we rescued two victims who were almost been used for ritual purposes and we also arrested one of the suspects who has also confessed that the shrines were used for more ritual purposes.”
