​​Arrested Land Grabbing Kingpin Fails To Meet Bail Conditions

Days after he was granted bail by the Special Offences Court, Oshodi, the fate of the arrested alleged land grabbing kingpin, Chief Kamorudeen Lamina, alias Sir K Oluwo, has continued to worsen, as he is still being remanded at the Badagry Prison, for failing to meet the conditions for the bail earlier granted him.
In his ruling, Magistrate Lateef Owolabi had granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N1 million and two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must be a land owner in Lagos, while the other must be a civil servant not below grade level 15. The sureties must have three years tax clearance and registration with Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA).
According to our findings, the alleged land grabbing Kingpin failed in his many attempts to meet the stringent conditions of his bail, by presenting persons that the Court has found to be unverifiable to stand as surety.
On Friday, 16 June, 2017, the Lagos State Special Task Force on Land Grabbers had arraigned Chief Lamina and other arrested members of his gang on a six count charge before the Special Offences Court, Oshodi.
In the charge preferred against him which include among others, forcefully taking possession of 200 plots of land belonging to Planet Properties Ltd and fraudulently selling 60 hectares of land previously sold by the legitimate owner contrary to sections 2(2) and 8 (1)(b) of the Lagos State Properties Protection Law 2016.
In a monitored radio programme on Friday, callers to the Station who were mainly from the Ikorodu area of the State expressed their happiness and delight at the arrest and immediate arraignment of the notorious land grabber, whom many acknowledged had brought untold pain and anguish on the people of Ikorodu community during his long reign of terror.
