President Muhammadu Buhari on September 7 Wednesday presides over the National Council of State meeting in the presidential villa in Abuja.
Among those present at the meeting are Chief Ernest Shonekan, immediate past president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan and Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, while are absent at the meeting.
Conspicuously absent are former presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida, General Yakubu Gowon and Shehu Shagari. Among the attenders are also five past Chief Justices of the Federation, state governors and some of their deputies.
Senate president, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara were also absent.
The irony is that the during the cameramen and photographers focused on Jonathan for about one minute while Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, governors and other officials in attendance remained standing.
This is the first meeting of Council of State to be attended by Jonathan since Buhari became president.
