Investing in Polytechnics Will Terminate “Joblessness”-FG

eduFederal Government has vowed to invest in Polytechnics in Nigeria in order increase skill acquisition and reduce unemployment.
This was revealed by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu during the convocation of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti at the weekend.
The minister disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration would address poor funding of polytechnic education to boost technical and vocational education in the country.
According to Adamu President Buhari would do so through huge investment and research enhancement in the sector.
“This, demonstrates Pesident Buhari’s determination to raise the face of polytechnics
and make it the driver of the economy,” the minister said.
He emphasised that with the dwindling fortunes of jobs in the formal sector that Nigerian graduates, particularly those from polytechnics and other technical schools need to imbibe the culture of acquiring skills that could make them employers of labour, rather than waiting for uncertainty.
The minister said the skills and entrepreneurial studies in all the institutions of higher learning would be enhanced to help Nigeria to overcome the challenges of joblessness after graduation.
Alhaji Isah Mustapha Agwai, Emir of Lafia, Nasarawa State; Mr. Remi Omotoso, a renowned
industrialist cum businessman; and Mr. Toyin Alabi, were conferred with the Fellow of Federal
Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti (FFPA) as a mark of recognition for their contributions to the development of the country.
