Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF and chieftain of the Afenifere, Samuel Oluyemisi Falae has been attacked and taken away on Monday, September 21, his 77th birthday by Fulani herdsmen on his farm at Ilu-Abo in Akure, Ondo state.
The Herdsmen whose number were about 20, attacked the farm of the former Finance minister and National Chairman of Social Democratic Party, injured the workers and abducted Falae after.
The Fulani men, according to report gathered, gave Falae the beating of his life at his refusal to go with them.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wole Ogodo, told newsmen in Akure that Falae was attacked on Monday morning and taken away.
He said that it was not a case of attack and not kidnap as earlier reports.
The police spokesman said Falae, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, was taken away while some of his workers were seriously wounded and have been hospitalized.
Ogodo said no fewer than 50 policemen had been deployed to the area to search for him.
However, a source in the family, who preferred anonymity, said that the kidnappers had called to ask for N100 million as ransom.
Journalists were denied entry into the Falae’s family house as many sympathizers were seen trooping in.
