With the 2015 general elections fast approaching cum the release of the timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), politicians have started to do what they know how to do best. Dimeji Bankole, former speaker of the House of Representatives has been mending fences with his perceived political enemies. He has been criss crossing the length and breath of Ogun state to garner support for his political ambition come 2015. The former number four man in the country has his eyes on the governorship of Ogun state. He said, he is ready to dislodge the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, who is equally preparing to run for a second term. Information reaching News of The People, NOTP, has it that the G15 group of the defunct 6th legislature of the Peoples Democratic, PDP, in Ogun state House of Assembly held a secret meeting with Bankole in which a large turn out was recorded. At the meeting various factions of PDP in the state which included that of Prince Burugi Kashamu, Senator Jubril Martins Kuye,JMK, and former President Olusegun Obasanjo all sheath their sword and agreed to endorse Bankole as their candidate. Tunji Egbetokun, former speaker of Ogun state House of Assembly has been the arrow head for the gap toothed politician. The egba born politician has been keeping a low profile after his travails with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, immediately after his tenure at the House of Representatives perhaps to restrategise.
