When long departed friends meet again,the long gone pleasant memory of togetherness comes alive. This was the situation yesterday September 11, at Oranmiyan Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel where the long separated members of Concord Press of Nigeria limited joyfully reunite for the first time after separation for about 15years.
With laughter, smiles, handshakes and amusements preceding the fun filled Reunion and reception which can along with award presentation for their newly appointed members in the present Nigeria government both state and National with Dr. Mrs. Hamidat Doyinsola Abiola, wife of late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola (MKO) and the founding Editor of National Concord as the chairperson of the event.
Honoured with award are Special Adviser, Media/Publicity to the President, Mr. Femi Adeshina Comander-in-Chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Secretary to the Government, Lagos State Honorable Olatunji Bello, Group General Manager, Public Affairs of The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Ohi Alegbe, President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mr. Waheed Odusile, Member of House of Representatives, Mallam Mohammed Sani Zorro, SSA,Media to Niger State Governor, Orintunsin and Managing Director of The Sun Newspapers Limited, Mr.Eric Osagie.
Chairperson of the occasion, Mrs. Hamdat Abiola, who described coming-in of both Kola and Deji Abiola as a pleasant interruption, in her lecture enumerated documentation, Knowledge and confidants/supporters (people to call on for help of advice) as the only tools that can be used to tackle corruption and stabilize Nigeria. The grandmother of two and book lover emphasized that “corruption can not be fought without proper documentation”.
She stated that corruption in country began with the failure of proper documents.
Chairman of the Organisation, Kola Abiola expressed his profound gratitude to the gesture of the members, dignitaries and well-wishers present at the reunion and seized the medium to urge the Nigeria government to give a Federal honourary to the Late Areonakankafo of Yoruba land saying “that is the only way MKO can be rewarded for his struggle and for being deprived the rite to become the president he was elected for in 1993 under the then Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida”.
Speaking further, Kola assured that the organisation will in soonest surface again and be available for consumption in both hard copy and on internet
Concord Press of Nigeria Limited, was incorporated in Lagos on 17th December 1979 by the Publisher and Chief Executive of the Company, Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo OLawale Abiola, one of Nigeria’s greatest Industrialists and Philanthropist. The six million naira Publishing house was commissioned on March 1, 1980 and the maiden edition of the National Concord, a daily publication rolled off the press the same day.
The Organization has over the years suffered proscription in the country.
The occasion was however, graced by many government official personnel at State and Federal levels.
