Following the lost of English Premier League table leader, Chelsea FC to Tottenham Hotspur side in last encounter of the league, the Blues’ under-18s recorded a comprehensive victory and a clean sheet on their travels as they extended their lead at the top of the Under-18 Premier League south section to seven points.
The Blues, whose senior side suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Hotspur, was compensated by their junior team trashing their age peers of Swansea 5-0.
Morris’s side started with a 3-4-3 shape as on a frosty morning in south Wales, took 15 minutes to blow away the break the deadlock.
A left-sided Swans corner flashed dangerously across the face of Cumming’s goal as the hosts started the brighter of the two sides, before the junior Blues crushed them.
The victory extends the Under-18s’ unbeaten run to 13 matches in all competitions and makes it three 5-0 wins from three against Welsh opposition this term, following last month’s win in the FA Youth Cup third round against Cardiff City. Morris’s side will return to action with a home game against Aston Villa next Saturday 14 January.
Meanwhile the senior Blues unbeaten record was hurt at 14 when Tottenham bashed them two goals to nil in (Chelsea) away clash on Wednesday.
