Wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, yesterday, urged women to embrace creative and innovative entrepreneurship skills to achieve sustainable development within the family and communities.
Mrs Ambode made the call at a news conference in Lagos ahead of the 17th Conference of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials.
She said women as helpmates were uniquely created and endowed with skills to impact positively on the family, environment and society, adding that such skills can be extended to all facets of human endeavour.
She said the three-day conference, holding between October 24 and 26 at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, has as its theme: She Creates, She Transforms.
The governor’s wife said that Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of the Vice President, would declare the conference open, while other renowned facilitators would examine issues on women empowerment in the country.
Lagos woos investors to internship programme
Meanwhile, Lagos State government has commenced search for prospective investors in its undergraduate internship programme, Ready-Set-Work, RSW, aimed at improving the programme beyond its current stage.
The government added that since its commencement, the students have become more interested in tasking themselves to develop innovative things that could help solve societal needs.
Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Wale Oluwo, who disclosed the plans during an interview with newsmen, yesterday, said that state government’s aim was to improve the programme to an enviable height.
“What is important for us is to continue this process so that we can take it from this stage, where the government is funding the programme, to where we will have major investors with huge capital to support the students in their businesses and put them in a position to add value through which they can also make money,” he added.
